Ingredients

Patriotic Pretzel Rods
  • 20 pretzel rods Keep the rods dry so the chocolate coating adheres.
  • 12 oz white chocolate melting wafers Use melting wafers for smooth, easy dipping.
  • 0.5 cup red sprinkles For rolling the dipped ends.
  • 0.5 cup blue sprinkles For rolling the dipped ends.
  • 0.25 cup white sanding sugar Adds extra crunch and a bright contrast.

Equipment

  • 1 sheet pan

Method

Prep
  1. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper for easy setting and cleanup.
  2. Melt the white chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth and fully melted.
Dip and decorate
  1. Dip each pretzel rod about two-thirds of the way into the melted white chocolate, twirling to coat evenly and letting excess drip off.
  2. Immediately roll the dipped end in red sprinkles, blue sprinkles, or white sanding sugar, working in sections to create a striped look across the batch.
Set and store
  1. Lay the finished rods flat on the parchment paper and let set at room temperature for 15–20 minutes.
  2. If you want to speed up setting, place them in the fridge for 10 minutes.
  3. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.

Notes

Pro tip: Work in small sections—once the chocolate cools it thickens and the sprinkles won’t stick as well. Store airtight at room temperature for up to 1 week; refrigerating may slightly soften the coating. Freezer: no, sprinkles and sanding sugar can lose texture after thawing. Dietary swap: use dairy-free white chocolate melting wafers for a dairy-free version (follow package melting directions).
